C loetta’s leading brand The Jelly Bean Factory saw a huge increase in sales in travel retail outlets in the past year by growing its distribution footprint both in Europe, Asia and the Middle East. “Our aim is to keep on activating the brand as a travel retail exclusive through offering personalised sleeves on the packets, tailormade to a location or moment such as the one for Cannes that we are showing this week,” said Jana Stroop, Global Travel Retail Manager, Cloetta International Markets. Cloetta is keen to collaborate more with partners like Lagardère, BNS in the Netherlands, ME and Africa. The Jelly Bean Factory is also seeing good sales in some Latin American countries. The beans only use natural flavours and colours and are gluten- free. A new pick-and-mix JBF tower display, 62cmwide, was launched in Bangalore Airport recently and will be available in 80 locations worldwide soon. The colourful Red Band brands Swedish Fish and Sour Suckers are hugely popular candy bestsellers too in the US, Canada, Benelux and other countries such as South Africa. “It is critical for us to find the right distribution partners,” Stroop explained. “We want sugar confectionery to achieve its full potential especially when the cost of raw materials is in our favour at present, unlike cocoa prices, so we can shift the 80/20% dominant balance of chocolate products to sugar sweets in travel retail in the future.” HarbourVillageAntisan Cloettamakes life more colourful I f there is a show-stopper in Cannes this week then the Microlino “bubble car” is it. Brought to you by Micro Mobility Systems – the inventor of the folding Micro Scooter, which sparked a worldwide craze and 90 million sales. NowMicro Mobility is on an emission-free journey to get you out of your car into the Microlino, which it insists “is not a car.” Offering a 90km/h top speed and a 230km range, the Microlino (rechargeable from a standard domestic electric socket in just 3-4 hours) has been developed with Mercedes and Fendi and has many corporate customers in the travel and TR world including SWISS and L’Oréal who appreciate it as the “key-less pool car.” 3,000 units have been sold since 2022, including sales to celebrities such as Madonna, Beckham, and Federer. The scoot-able Micro carry-on bag is also pretty amazing too. And if you are wondering what the airlines think of you taking it onboard, Micro Mobility’s Head of Travel Retail Mirabela Lauterbach (seen driving the Microlino here) says to remind your favourite airline gate agent that it is apparently beloved by many satisfied pilots (so smile, and be assertive).
