T hirty-five TFWA delegates took part in the “Yes We Cannes! Handisport event yesterday morning – co-organised by TFWA, Stade Toulousain Handisport and m1nd-set – in the squares by the Allées de la Liberté Charles de Gaulle in the presence of two international wheelchair-rugby athletes. As put by Clément Trézeux, the President of Stade Toulousain Handisport, this cheerful and educational competition aimed to show “how you can adapt the environment to include people with disabilities”. Integrated to the famous Toulouse rugby club, this non-profit organisation has been organising this event for four years now at the initiative of the Swiss-based consumer insights and market research agency m1nd-set. “Yes We Cannes!” “There was a lack of inclusion in the industry,” m1nd-set CEO Peter Mohn recalled, “and we wanted to increase awareness on disabilities”. Through a contact in Toulouse, m1nd-set reached out to Stade Toulousain Handisport five years ago, and the rest is now part of TFWA history and the official programme. After a hearty breakfast offered by the cosmetics brand Puressentiel, Toulouse- based PR & Events consultant Michael Barrett extended on behalf of m1nd-set his gratitude towards TFWA, the municipality of Cannes and the event’s sponsors Haribo, Blueprint business development, Travconsult and AFTR. TFWA President Sarah Branquinho then took the floor and delivered a moving speech in which she rejoiced at this opportunity to shed light on those who struggle with their daily lives because of visible or invisible disabilities. She also welcomed the growing trend among airports to “treat these customers like other customers and get them the help they need.” Divided into four teams – yellow, blue, green and turquoise – the delegates competed in a series of matches under the supervision of volunteers from Stade Toulousain Handisport.
