A n NPD focus: Elisa Fontana, Director Marketing and Trade Marketing Travel Retail, with the Travel Edition ‘My City Trip’. After the recent geopolitical disruption HARIBO has used Cannes to set out its short-term strategy to support the brand’s growth and drive the category. The strategy is built on three pillars: • Recovery: Through improved route-to-market operations, faster logistics and stronger product availability at point of sale. • Execution: Supporting its innovation pipeline – over the past three years it has launched 16 new SKUs in travel retail and will continue to develop products creating excitement, uniqueness and exclusivity. • Packaging: Addressing the EU’s latest Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) including undertaking a redesign of its primary and secondary packaging. Meanwhile, HARIBO’s own latest shopper research points to gifting losing ground in travel retail, particularly among younger travellers, with only 15% citing it as their motivation, and just 10% as their reason to visit the store. Instead, personal consumption, especially sharing with travel companions, is becoming increasingly important, most notably for Gen Z. BayVillage Bay 18 F or Fazer, GTR plays an important role in introducing its products to consumers as continued international growth remains a core ambition. “Most recently we acquired Swedish candy manufacturer Aroma, reinforcing our presence in the Nordic region, while our new ultra-modern chocolate factory in Lahti, Finland, opening in 2028, will create new opportunities for innovation, exports and international expansion,” says Kari Kuikka Director, Travel Retail (seen here on the right). “Together, these investments strengthen our competitiveness and bring Fazer’s beloved brands to even more consumers.” Meanwhile in Cannes, Geisha, Fazer’s newest and most international chocolate brand, enters a new chapter with its Share a Dream concept. “With its elegant chocolate creations and signature hazelnut filling, Geisha invites travellers to pause, dream and savour a moment of harmony,” says Kuikka.
