T he ONEBIRD and ONEART EDITIONS teams share a genuine passion for premium gifts, souvenirs, destination merchandise and travel accessories. “We believe there is still a great deal of creative territory to explore in these categories,” says Alexis Wittmer, President & Co-founder. “Travellers increasingly look for products that combine a connection with a destination with design, originality, functionality and storytelling. This is where our two companies hope to bring their own creative contribution. Our objective in Cannes is to share our ideas and new collections with the travel retail community and expand the international reach of our existing concepts, helping operators surprise their customers with something fresh, creative and distinctive. We also want to listen, exchange and explore together how we can develop new destination-relevant concepts for their markets.” At TFWA World Exhibition & Conference, three complementary approaches to destination merchandise are being showcased, reflecting a passion for travel, culture and design: the code, the character and the artist. ONEBIRD’s major launch is AIRPORT CODE, a colourful concept built around three-letter airport codes. Each design uses the colours of the country’s flag: the airport code and official name identify the gateway, while the flag and the colours invite travellers into a destination, a country and its culture. The concept is available across keyrings, magnets, luggage tags, passport covers, travel accessories, tote bags and postcards, creating a compact, highly visual and collectible travel retail offer. Licensed Destinations by ONEART EDITIONS combines iconic licensed universes such as Babar and The Little Prince with the ONEBIRD and ONEART EDITIONS: Creativity, licensing and destination merchandise for a world of travellers landmarks, cities and cultures of destinations around the world. “Our creative studio develops original destination artwork, bringing together familiar characters with local identity and cultural references,” Wittmer explains. “It is a way of making beautiful, iconic stories travel and passing them on to new generations. We can also develop exclusive designs and collections with travel retail operators for specific destinations.” Also new is Destinations by Alex Asfour. “With American travel artist Alex Asfour, we are introducing a bold, colourful graphic approach inspired by the heritage of classic travel posters (offered in travel-friendly formats) and extended across a range of destination merchandise, including magnets, postcards and other gift items,” says Wittmer. “His distinctive visual language can be immediately adapted to many destinations while retaining a strong artistic identity, offering travel retail a concept that combines destination, contemporary illustration, gifting and collectability.” Wittmer highlights that these are three different creative languages, with one shared ambition: to explore new ways of making destination merchandise more creative, desirable and collectible. ONEBIRD and ONEART EDITIONS are making their debut at TFWA World Exhibition & Conference. “We are very pleased to introduce ONEBIRD and ONEART EDITIONS in Cannes this year, share our teams’ passion for travel, creativity and design, and hopefully create new opportunities and long-term relationships within the travel retail community,” Wittmer adds.
