G hanaian fine fragrance house Scent of Africa has used TFWA World Exhibition & Conference to unveil its latest collection, Akua’ba, continuing the brand’s mission to showcase African creativity, ingredients and storytelling on the global stage. Based in Accra, Scent of Africa launched its first range, the Eternal Legends Collection, in 2022, drawing inspiration from African mythology. The collection now comprises 10 fragrances, including its latest duo, Anancy and Assaye, inspired by Akan mythology. Akua’ba marks a new chapter for the house. Three years in development, the collection takes its name and inspiration from the traditional Akua’ba fertility doll of Ghana’s Akan people, a symbol associated with hope and new beginnings. The collection also explores African fragrance rituals, including the Senegalese tradition of burning incense, resins, spices and scented woods to perfume the body and clothing. This ritual becomes a metaphor for the evolution of love, with each fragrance carrying a name drawn from an African language and representing stages including hope, attraction, passion, Akua’ba: Where heritage meets fragrance devotion and unity. That cultural immersion extended to Scent of Africa’s Cannes stand, where textured walls, natural wood and architectural influences helped bring the brand’s African heritage to life. Akua’ba is scheduled for release in December 2026. Scent of Africa is also teasing possible limited editions, new pack sizes and further concepts designed specifically for the global travel retail market.
