F ounded in 1770, SPEY is a legendary distillery located at the very top of the Speyside region. Renowned whisky authority Charles MacLean once described it as: “In an age where speed defines everything, this small distillery reminds us that whisky, at its core, is an art form.” Chairman & CEO Hung Ho explains that at this year’s TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference, SPEY’s core objective is singular: “To demonstrate to the global duty free channel that whisky can be presented, collected, and remembered as a work of art. SPEY represents more than 200 years of royal heritage and artistic legacy – a brand whose presence cannot be overlooked, from the design of the bottle to its display, from its visual identity to its storytelling.” This year’s highlight is the debut of the SPEY Art Collection – Mastery Series. “Focus. Conviction. Love. These three words define not only SPEY’s unwavering philosophy of whisky-making for over 200 years, but also the timeless truth behind all great works of art across centuries,” says Hung Ho. “The Art Collection – Mastery Series is a tangible expression of this belief: inspired by six artists who devote their souls entirely to their craft – The Painter, The Master Distiller, The Musician, The Dancer, The Tailor, and The Architect – each creation celebrates the moment when skill reaches its absolute pinnacle. Refined by time and preserved through unwavering focus, each expression is conceived as an enduring work of art, created in pursuit of perfection.” The collection comprises six single malt whiskies, aged from 12 to 30 years, with prices ranging from £75 to £1,580, spanning a complete spectrum from accessible entry- level expressions to the pinnacle of collectible excellence. Each whisky is paired with an original Cubist-inspired artwork, and when displayed together, the six bottles form a miniature art exhibition in their own right. “Behind each expression lies SPEY’s uncompromising commitment to craftsmanship: an extended fermentation of no less than 120 hours, followed by slow distillation using just a single pair of stills – sacrificing volume to achieve the utmost depth of flavour,” Hung Ho explains. “The variations across the six expressions are shaped purely by time. Four of the whiskies aged over 19 years are bottled at 46% ABV and non-chill filtered, preserving the whisky’s full natural character and texture. From the bright elegance of the 12-year-old to the profound composure of the 30-year-old, this is more than a collection – it is a complete journey from apprentice to master.” The Asia-Pacific region is a key focus market for SPEY’s continued growth and it is looking forward to once again participating at TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference. “This year, we look forward to welcoming more international partners to experience the SPEY Art Collection – Mastery Series, to see, to hold, and to experience first-hand the world of SPEY,” Hung Ho adds.
